Early to bed and early to rise we were up to watch the sun’s first peek over the rim of Bryce Canyon. It was a crisp 44 degrees in the morning but it was worth it to see the sunrise and the glow on the hoo doos.

We went to the lodge and had some breakfast and packed up and checked out. Out of Bryce Canyon we took some back roads through Utah. It was a little slow going but we went through some interesting hills and valleys. We hopped on the interstate and it is amazing how many miles you can cover when the spend limit is 80 miles per hour. We stopped in Lehi at Strap Tank Brewing for lunch. It was busy but we got some spots at the bar. We had some tasty beer and food.

We kept going north through Utah and then into Idaho. Then to the Riverside Hot Springs Inn in Lava Hot Spings, ID. After checking in we went tho the lower level of the hotel to check out their mineral spas and the bar. They had a two-for-one special and we each got our first drink with a promise we would be back for the second. The bartender said we didn’t have to pay yet; it is a small town and he would know us when we came back. We went on a walk up and down the four blocks of the Main Street. It is a little vacation town in the mountains known for hot springs and tubing on the Portneuf River. We stopped in a couple shops and saw some interesting items. We made our way to Eruption Brewing and got a spot outside. Karla had a Mediterranean salad and Mac and cheese with mushrooms that was really good. I had a tasty Cuban sandwich. We sampled a few IPAs that were pretty good. I really wanted to get a t-shirt but they did not have a thing in my size.

Before we went back to the hotel, we took a walk along the river. There was a nice path and several walking bridges over the river. We saw some ducks and even a person on a tube floating down the river.

Our stay at the Riverside Hot Springs Inn included a soak on the mineral spa. We went back to the hotel, picked up some robes from the lobby and put our swimsuits on. We went down to the spa in the lower level. We had our own pool in a private room. The water was about 101 degrees and it took a little bit to ease into the water. We soaked a little, sat on the edge and soaked a little more. It was a nice pool and another fun thing to try. When we were done with our soak, we put our robes on and went to the bar. We got our second round of our two-for -ones and took them to our room. We sat on the bed and watched some tv and finished our drinks before falling asleep.
