The rest of October 2025

Our new place was still pretty empty. We shopped all the thrift and antique stores including D’s Furniture, St Vincent dePaul, Goodwill, Hidden Treasure Mall, Rocking Horse Antique Mall, Arizona Trading, Sorted Past, BZB Consignment, Bitchin Pickens, and the Bargain Barn of Palominas. We also visited most of the big box stores including Lowe’s, Walmart, Best Buy and Home Depot. Karla is an expert on finding great deals online and we drove around town picking up rugs and furniture. We even made a trip to Tucson for a pickup (and to stock up at Costco). Fortunately for me, we were close to one of the few breweries in Tucson that we had not been to. The Button Brew House was a nice stop to add to the list.

We went to the DMV to get our Arizona drivers licenses.

We also visited some of our old favorites including the Bone Dry Taphouse and Tombstone Brewing West End.

We played trivia three times. Twice at the High Heat Sports Grill. We played there last spring and knew the format. The first night we did good and were in the running for some drink tickets. However, after the last question, another team got the trivia master to accept an additional answer and we were bumped out. The next time we finished in the middle of the pack. We also played monster movie trivia at the Urban Axe Yard. Not our strong suit but we did ok and had fun.

We participated in the No Kings rally on October 18. There were over 1,000 like-minded Sierra Vistans and had we had a good time talking with neighbors and waving at supportive, honking motorists. We had homemade signs and several people asked to take pictures of Karla’s sign. The only bad time was when someone blasted us with exhaust from a diesel truck. He will be charged.

On October 25 we went to a local production of the Producers by the Sierra Vista Community Theater. We had a fun time and were impressed with acting, singing, and choreography.

Our new neighborhood went NUTS for Halloween. We had heard, and we could see a lot of neighborhood decorations, but we did not know how big it would be. There were hundreds of kids. Our Costco size bag of candy ran out very quickly. Next year we will have to step up our game. We turned off our lights and took a walk around our neighborhood to check out the costumes and decoration.

Karla had nothing to do with the Louvre robbery

We knew we were not going to hang around all night because we wanted to go to Bisbee for the Nightmare on Subway Street. It was a lot of fun to see all the costumes, and the the Exbats rocked the street.

We are excited because this weekend is the Sidepony Express Music Festival. I will try to post some updates.
