Las Cruces

When we left Tucson on Saturday, January 11, we took a little detour and drove to Silver City NM. We stopped at Little Toad Creek Brewing for some tasty lunch. We walked around Silver City and saw the Billy the Kid homesite, but it was too cold to do much else. We continued to Las Cruces, but we were to early to check in to our Airbnb. So we headed downtown, walked around a bit, and stopped at Icebox Brewing for a beer. When it was ready, we went to our Airbnb and got settled in.

We spent the first few days getting settled, getting supplies and getting to know the neighborhood.

We went back to Icebox Brewing to play some trivia. We did good but did not finish high enough for a prize. We talked with the people next to us and found out they used to live in Brainerd, MN. We discussed music and travel and made plans to meet for more trivia.

Our first Friday in Las Cruces, we went to a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Rio Grande Theatre. It was really well done and there were some great performances.

We checked out the Las Cruces farmer’s market. It was more arts and crafts than produce, but there was some quality items. We also had some of the best tacos ever from the Tacos de Birria food truck.

We went on a hike on the Ridgeline Trail but it was cold and windy and we only made it a couple miles. Not far from the trail was Fort Selden. We checked out the ruins and history and it was an interesting stop.

We met up with our new friends, Greg and Marianne for trivia at Truth or Consequences Brewing for more trivia. Our team took first place and won a $25 gift card.

Karla and I played trivia at the Pecan Grill & Brewery. We were the only team with two players and took 2nd place and a $20 gift card.

We met up again with Greg & Marianne for more trivia at Dry Point Distillers. We were doing well but lost on final question.

We have been watching the Minnesota men’s basketball team and they have won three in a row. They beat number 20 Michigan, Iowa at Iowa and number 15 Oregon. Let’s hope they can keep it up.

Ken & Janelle came and visited us. We had a terrific weekend, but that will have to wait for my next post.
