Bisbee 2024

Our time in Bisbee went fast and we had a lot of fun.

We visited museums, saw live music, ate great food and even played trivia.

We played trivia at Electric Brewing. We did pretty good and we were in first place after two rounds. However, at the end of the third and final round, we slipped to second place.

Museums:

  • Muheim Heritage House in Bisbee. It was built from 1898 through 1915 and has period furniture and pictures. We had a private tour from the friendly, knowledgeable docent.
  • Artemizia Foundation in Bisbee. This is an awesome contemporary art museum with a great collation including street and graffiti art. When we were there, they has a special exhibit by Cey Adams.

  • Last Supper Museum in Douglas. They have thousands of versions of the last supper in every medium imaginable. It was way more interesting and entertaining than I thought it would be.
  • Art Car World in Douglas. They have a collection of wildly decorated vehicles. They are working on a new building to display and highlight the cars. Another fun museum.
  • Millville and Petroglyph Discovery Trail. Not a museum, but we did see some petroglyphs and ruins of the town of Charleston.

Some of the live music that we saw:

Some of the restaurants we visited:

  • Los Milics Winery in Elgin. The view was the star of the show. The food was good, but we were not too impressed with their wine.
  • Copper Hop Ranch. It is not a restaurant, but a brewery. It is out in the middle of nowhere and feels like you are hanging out at someone’s home. But they brew beer and distill whiskey. Their beer is good and I got a small bottle of whiskey to go.
  • The Copper Pig. This is our favorite restaurant in Bisbee. The food is very good and we had leftovers to take home.
  • Los Hermanos. This was Contessa’s Cantina the last time we were in Bisbee. We had some pretty good tacos.
  • Taqueria Outlaw. Really good tacos and nachos.
  • Bisbee Royal. Good burgers. We went back for some really good Bloody Marys and brunch while we watched the Vikings on the big screen.

For Thanksgiving we cooked a meal for ourselves at our rental. Karla did an overnight dry brine on a turkey breast and then cooked it in the crock pot. It was delicious. I tried to make cornbread, but it turned out too dry. We turned it into stuffing and it was pretty good. Some of the stuffing we turned into cornbread-sausage-stuffing-bites. Karla also made asparagus and cranberry sauce. After our meal we went to Old Bisbee Brewing for Friendsgiving. We brought the cornbread-sausage-stuffing-bites to share. There was a lot of other food brought by the community. We had a few beers and tried some of the food. We ended with some delicious pie for desert.

We also went on the Bisbee Home Tour presented by the Bisbee Woman’s Club. There were six homes, three hotels and one church. It was great to get an inside look at some buildings in Bisbee.

Wow. So much stuff and so much fun. We are in Tucson now and new adventure awaits.
