For the 4th of July we smoked a lot of ribs and had a big meal with the family.
We continued to work on our projects. This included transforming the sauna at cabin four into another sleeping space. I think it turned out really nice.
The second weekend in July, we went to Chicago for LcFest. It was a celebration for our friend Lane, whom we lost during the Covid pandemic. It was fun to see a lot of friends from all over the country and to listen to some great music, but we miss Lane.
One more project we finished was putting a big ceiling fan in pole building. The fan that was installed when the building was put up was too small and did not do anything. The new fan is much bigger and moves some air.
Family started coming to the lake. First Lani (Oregon), then Katie (Kentucky) and her family, Lauren (Colorado) and her family, and Allison (Kentucky) and her family. Of course my brothers (Minnesota) and their families were around. We had nice weather and there was a lot of swimming, pontooning, and tubing.
Monday, July 29 was the plan for the big meal in the pole building. Everyone was going to be there and we invited my cousin Karla and her husband Charlie. There were 30 people total. John grilled steaks and salmon, Karla and others made salads and sides. I helped get everything set up. The food was great and everyone had a wonderful time.
After the meal, we brought the dishes down to our cabin and had a dishwashing party at our place.
On Tuesday we went to Hackensack for trivia at Rendezvous Brewing. We had enough people to form three teams. It was close all night and two of the teams tied. We had to do a triple tie breaker to get to the winner. Our team, with Karla, Lauren, Walker, Gaby, Carter and myself, lost to the team with Mike, Allison, Cortez, Stephanie and her boyfriend John. We both answered the final question correctly, but we did not wager as much as they did. It was a lot of fun and I think the other teams also enjoyed the drama.
After trivia we went to the Hack Muni and had a beer. We also took some sunset pictures and the obligatory pictures with Lucette.

Because the meal at the pole building on Monday went so well, it was decided to have dinner there Wednesday as well. Cortez smoked a brisket, Karla made Mac and cheese, Mike made sausage and there were lots of salads. Another great night and another dishwashing party after.
That was July 31. There was more family fun and more meals in the pole building. But that was in August so that will have wait for the next post.
