At the end of May we had a good trip to Kentucky and Ohio for Allison and John’s wedding celebration.
Thursday, May 23, the night before out trip to Kentucky/Ohio we went to St. Cloud to stay at Mom’s place. It was good to see Mom and we sat talked for a while.
Friday we drove to MSP, flew to CVG, shared a rental car with Gaby, John, Anna, Caden and Carter, and drove to the Aloft in Newport, Kentucky. Everyone went to lunch at 16 Lots. Scott & Donell, Michael and Katie joined us there. That evening, everyone went to Washington Park and hung out with Allison and John and more family.
Saturday, Karla and I went out for brunch at A Taste of Belgium and visited the Underground Railroad Museum. Later in the afternoon we went to the Somerhaus Events Venue for the wedding reception. We waked down the block and everyone gathered for family pictures. Unfortunately, Karla was not feeling well, so after the pictures, she went back to the hotel. I hung out with the family and had a few beers and did a little dancing.
Back at Widow Lake we got back into our routine. I work during the day and work on projects in the evening and weekends. Karla is working some Saturdays at Minne-Teepee Resort cleaning cabins.
We got a new tri-toon for Widow Lake. It is really nice with lots of room and extra features. A nice upgrade from the pontoon that we have had for a long time.
We have played trivia at Rendezvous Brewing every Tuesday. We joined Steph & John one week and took first place. We ended in the middle a few times. Kevin, Emily and neighbor Greg joined us and we tied for first. Then we lost in the double tiebreaker. Last week we joined some friends and took another first place.
We went to Festival Rialto at Rapids Brewing in Grand Rapids. It was a nice day and the festival was not too big. They had two stages and they took turns so there was almost always some music going on. I enjoyed Rich Mattson and the Northstars, Charlie Parr,

and the Grand Rapids High School Jazz Band. We did not make it all the way to the end of the Wild Horses. We stayed overnight at the Hotel Rapids and it was nice that I did not have to drive home after a full day of music and beer.
We got new carpet. They missed the installation date and they did not have enough carpet. So they had to come back a second time. And the installers put a hole in our screen door. It is done now and it looks nice. But it was a much bigger hassle than I expected.
We went to Park Rapids to see the 4onTheFloor at 2nd Street Live.
I attended the 44th Boot Camp and Karla went with her family to the Austin v. Minnesota soccer match in St. Paul.
Lots of other projects. Including a box for our firewood, new ceiling fans, a horseshoe scoreboard, a new dining room light, new flooring in the guest cabin, paneling in the porch at Scott’s, work on the old sauna at 4, a new kitchen sink at Scott’s, a new water softener at John’s, and new dock boards at Mom’s.
We have a trip to Chicago and lots of family coming in July. Hopefully we can get our projects done and we can relax and enjoy July.
