SRB -> GP

On Saturday, March 16, we packed up our stuff at Santa Rosa Beach. There were a lot of trips to the truck from our third floor condo. Good thing there was an elevator and I used it when I could. There were a lot of other people around and it looked like some were also packing up.

We were ready earlier that I thought we would be. So we locked up and hit the road. We avoided interstate 10 and took 98 all the way to Pensacola. When we got to Pensacola, we took 90 north along the bay. There were some nice views along the water.

We went to Goat Lips Brew and Chew. It looked small and busy from the outside. Also there was a big 250 truck trying to find a place to park. Once he was parked there were a couple spots for us. We went in and found a couple spots at a rickety bar. When I sat down I knocked a fake seagull off a display case. The have a lot of interesting stuff on the walls. We tried a couple samples and got a couple beers. They had a double IPA but I didn’t need that much ABV. So I got the pale ale. Not bad. Karla got the peanut buttercup porter that was good. We started with some chips and salsa and some queso. The salsa was really good but the queso was a little thin. Karla got a Cajun chicken sandwich and I got a pulled pork sandwich. Both were really good. It looked like there was music going on in the other room, or maybe just warm up, but I didn’t check it out. On the way out we checked out their three stooges memorabilia. Kinda fun.

Just a mile away was Coastal County Brewing so we went to checked it out. It was the opposite of Goat Lips. It is a big place with a huge back yard. We entered from the back and went inside. It is nice  and looks new inside. We got a couple beers and found a place to sit outside. They had bouncy houses, games, picnic tables, an outdoor tv, live music and other stuff. Well, the live music was a guy singing and playing guitar along with prerecorded music. But it was a nice day and it was nice to sit outside.

We hit the road again and because we had a little further to go, we took the interstate. There was some more traffic and some slow downs around mobile. We stopped for gas somewhere n Alabama and it was cheaper than Florida.

We got to our Airbnb rental around 4:30. It is a nice place with a lot of room. We unloaded and started getting settled. Karla got stuff situated in the kitchen. I moved the desk from the dining area and put in the bunk room and set up my work stuff.

We were getting hungry but we didn’t want to cook. I suggested going to Chandeleur Brewing. It was Saturday night and busy. We found a couple spots at the end of the bar. We got some beers and asked about food. We were told it was busy and food would take a while. When we were ready to order, we were told to wait ten minutes and it might be better. We waited and ordered from someone else. Our tacos took at least 45 minutes. It was a little frustrating. We tried a few more beers. There was live music by Cody Seal. At the end of the night, we were told our bill was taken care of. There were two guys sitting next to us, who were gone by this time, but I didn’t really look at them because they were a little loud and I think a little drunk. I guess these guys were related to, or friends of, the owners and picked up our tab. That was really awesome of them. I left all the cash I had as a tip.

We went back to the rental and watched a little tv before going to bed.
