Devils Tower & Deadwood

. . . and Mitchell.

It was a little cool in the morning, we loaded up and headed towards Devils Tower. It started to snow a little but we kept going. When we got to Devils Tower, it was not busy and we hiked the Tower Tail. The snow stopped and we had great views of the tower.

After Devils Tower we went to Deadwood, SD. We found a place to park and had a beer at the Nugget Saloon. From there we walked around historic Deadwood and went to Jacobs Brewhouse & Grocer. We enjoyed locally brewed beer and a delicious lunch. We made one more stop in Deadwood at the Mount Moriah Cemetery. We took a quick walk around and saw the graves of Wild Bill and Calamity Jane.

Then we had over 300 miles to drive to Mitchell, SD. At first there were some views of the Black Hills, but after that it was a lot of empty prairies.
In Mitchell we checked into the Kelly Inn before going to the Depot for supper. There are no breweries in the area. After the Depot, we drove by the Mitchell Corn Palace before returning to the Kelly Inn.
It was a great morning and a long drive in the afternoon. Tomorrow we will be in Minnesota.
