Once we found where I parked the truck, it wasn’t too bad getting out of Vegas. On our way to Utah, we took a little detour and drove through the Valley of Fire State Park. We only made a couple quick stops, but it was awesome to see the rock formations and colors. Some day we may be back.
After a little brunch we continued on to Springdale, Utah. It was too early to check in to the Pioneer Lodge so we walked towards Zion National Park. Before we went in, we got a beer at the Zion Canyon Brewpub. We went in the park and took the shuttle to Temple of Sinawava. We got out and hiked a bit and then took the shuttle back. We checked in to our hotel and went out and walked some more. We went to Porters and had a good supper. We walked around Springdale some more and looked for a place to get a nightcap. None of the restaurants in town would serve us a drink without getting some food. We ended up at Jack’s Sports Grill. I got a big beer, Karla got a glass of wine and we had some chips and salsa. Not a great ending to a really good day.
Zion National Park is amazing and I hope some day we can come back.
