We are having fun exploring the area.
For Valentine’s Day we went to the Cork & Catch. The atmosphere was a little boring but the food was very good. We got the surf and turf for two. It included and appitizer, soup, salad, filets, lobster tails, desert and a bottle of wine.
It was raining when we got there, we could see out the window as the rain turned to snow and then it cleared up by the time we left.
Last Thursday we moved to our second place in Cottonwood. Not as new as the first place but it is nice. We will be here until March 18.
After we got settled we walked to Da Vines. We had some really tasty food and delicious wine.
After I finished work on Friday we walked to Old Town Cottonwood. We stopped in a few shops and a couple local bars. Then we went to Colt Grill for supper. We got the BBQ sampler that included ribs, brisket, pulled pork and smoked turkey. We also got corn bread and mac and cheese. Everything was really good and we finished everything except the white bread.
Saturday we drove to Jerome. We spent some time in the Jerome Historical Society before visiting a few shops. We also walked up the hill to see if we could fund the place we were going to rent. The road we walked on was a dirt road and it was muddy. It went up above the house and there were stairs down to the house. We turned around and went back down and found an alley that went in front of the house. There were still a lot of stairs to get up to the house. It would have been a pain to unload and load our stuff. I am really glad we changed our reservation. We walked back down and went to the Clinkscale for lunch. Good stuff. After lunch we We checked out some more shops and had a beer at the Wicked City Saloon. That was about it. I think we will be happier staying in Cottonwood.
Sunday we visited Prescott. We through Jerome and over the mountains. I thought it was a cool drive. Some steep cliffs and hairpin turns. Up to 7,000 feet and some amazing views. Made it to Prescott and parked in the historic area. We walked around the court house and down Whiskey row and checked out some shops. We stopped in the Palace bar for a beer and a margarita. We went to the Western Heritage Center, more shops and galleries. For lunch we went to the Lazy G Brewhouse. Good beer selection and good food. After lunch we walked to the Sharlot Hall Museum. They have some historic building that have been moved to their location. Before we left Prescott, there was one more brewery. So we went to Ad Astra. It was a little disappointing but I am glad we stopped.
On our way back we stopped at Costco to stock up on a couple things. We made one more stop at Lonesome Valley Brewery. They were really busy so we just got a beer and headed back.
Monday was the Presidents Day holiday so I did not have to work and slept in a bit. It was a nice day so we went Dead Horse State Park. They have some nice trails and we hiked around for a while. After our hike we went to Adriana’s Mexican Food for some really good burritos. Also they brought out some chips and salsa as soon as we sat down and the salsa was some of the best I have had in a long time. After lunch we went to Smelter Town Brewery. They have a good IPA selection. We tried a couple beers and headed back. It is not far away and I have a feeling we will visit again.
Yesterday we cancelled our plans to go to the Grand Canyon. I think we could have made it there before the weather got bad. But they were predicting a storm and we did not want to take a chance. We should make it there some time in the next few weeks.
