March 29, 2022
We start heading north tomorrow. Our time has gone fast but we have experienced a lot of stuff.
On the 19th of March, we went to Fairhope. We wandered around the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival. A really big display with lots of interesting stuff. We also explored the Fairhope Pier and visited Fairhope Brewing. We had some food from the Good Guys food truck, had a couple beers and got a four pack to go. On the way back we stopped at Week’s Bay and the pitcher plant bog. Nice walk but the wrong time of the year for any carnivorous flowers. It was still early so we drove around some more and visited Bamahenge and some dinosaurs in the woods off the side of the road.
The next day we visited Fort Morgan. I think we explored every part of the fort that was open. Big and interesting place. It also provided a view of Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico with oil rigs and lots of tankers. We went to Tacky Jack’s for lunch. Nice view but the food was just average. That afternoon we went to the beach and relaxed.
On March 26 we went to Mobile. We went to two museums, three breweries and our friend’s favorite Irish Pub. We were impressed by the History Museum of Mobile and the beer selection at Old Majestic. We also enjoyed walking around town and looking at the architecture.
Sunday we stopped at The Gulf for lunch and then we to the beach at Alabama Point East. We enjoyed our lunch, but were dissapointed by the beach.
Monday I had the day off so we went to the Warf. We bought a few items and had a good lunch, but it did not take long to cover everything. So we went and played some minigolf and rode some bumper boats. That was fun. One more stop at Big Beach Brewery and back to the VRBO to relax
Today is packing day. I will try to post an update from the road tomorrow.
