We left Daytona Beach Shores and took the back roads to Lake City. We had lunch at the Marion Street Bistro. Not too bad. After lunch we walked next door to Halplatter Brewing. Karla had a watermelon gose and I had a hazy IPA. Both were pretty good.
From Lake City we drove to St. George Island. I wanted to check out the lighthouse but I didn’t know they were having a chili cook off. There were cars everywhere and people in the street. After a few frustrating minutes of trying to find a place to park, we left without stopping.
Back across the bridge we stopped at Eastpoint Beer Company for a pint. Nice little brewing with a view of the water.
Then on to the Consulate Suites in Apalachicola. Are really nice boutique hotel in a historic building. We dropped off our stuff and walked around town. Our first stop was Oyster City Brewing. I got a tasty hazy IPA and Karla got a rasbeery b-liner weisse. They told us we could get them in a to-go cup and walk around town. So we did.
After a short walk around town, we went to the Owl Café. We started with some fried oysters and then Karla had the local fish of the day and I had jambalaya. Everything was very good.
After dinner we went to pick up some wine, but the store we went to was already closed. So we went back to Oyster City Brewing and picked up some beer to go. I also got a to-go cup of their double IPA. Also tasty. We went back to the Consulate Suites and sat on our balcony. We watched and listened to the people below. Two separate tour groups came by and a reenactor told the story of Lizzy who used to have billiard tables in the building.
It wasn’t too late when we went to bed. Another good day.
