Great trip to Alabama.
– Friday –
Flew out of the Fargo airport. First time doing that. Not too bad.
Chicago to Huntsville, Alabama. Got the rental car and near the airport was a brewery. Rocket Republic. Stopped for a pint and a crowler to go.
Got on the road and stopped at Crossed Eyed Owl in Decatur. Another pint, but nothing to go.
Drove to the Clarion in Sheffield and checked in.
Met some friends at Taco Mama in Florence. Good tacos.
Walked across the street to Singin’ River Brewing. Had some beer and listened to some music. The Prescriptions, Rock Eupora and Duquette Johnston.
– Saturday –
Toured the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Rosenbaum House.
Toured the Muscle Shoals Sound studio.
Went to lunch with PD & Jody at Odette.
Shoalsfest day 1. Cedric Burnside, Amanda Shires, Candi Staton, Lucinda Williams and Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit. We listened to some music, but mostly we talked with friends. We left before Jason Isbell was done.
Back at the hotel, we went to Fizz. There was a cover band. We had a couple drinks and some pimento cheese.
– Sunday –
Breakfast at Big Bad Breakfast.
Drove across the Wilson Dam Bridge.
Walked on the Old Railroad Bridge.
A few beers and snacks at the Pie Factory.
Shoalsfest day 2. Talked with friends and saw a little of the Pine Hill Haints.
We move up by the stage for Slobberbone. So much fun and a great set.
We stayed up close for Centro-matic. Fantastic! Best part of the entire trip.
We moved back and got some food. Hung out with friends and watched some of the Drive-By Truckers.
Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit was last again. We watched some, but left before he was done.
Back at the hotel, we had some beer and went to bed.
– Monday –
Toured Fame Recording Studios.
Drove to Huntsville and had lunch at Straight to Ale. I had a great Cuban sandwich.
Back to the airport and flight to Dallas, then Fargo.
It was after 1:00AM by the time we got home.
