Goodbye SPI

February 25, 2021

Only one more full day in South Padre Island. We head to Austin on Saturday.

The last couple weeks have gone by quickly.

We made another trip to Laguna Atascosa. Nice day and nice 10 mile ride. After we returned to South Padre Island, it was nice enough to take some chairs to the beach and sit in the sun for a bit. We dipped our toes in the water, but the water was too cold to go in any further.

We participated in the KVSC Trivia Weekend. This year was 33 hours with breaks early Saturday and early Sunday morning. In past years it was 50 hours of trivia without any breaks. We finished 31 out 58 teams. Not bad for a small team.

South Padre Island is far enough south to avoid getting snow during the great Texas winter storm of 2021. We did get below freezing and our water plant had some issues. We had several days with just a drip of water. But we never lost power and were luckier than most.

The weekend after the storm it warmed up and we were able to sit by the pool and get some sun. I also saw a friend of mine from high school and we got together for some beers at Tequila Sunset and a good dinner at the Painted Marlin. The next day he went fishing and he caught so many fish that he gave up a bunch of fresh fillets. Thanks, Scott!
