Sunday we drove to Boca Chica Beach. On the way we passed the SpaceX launch facility. I was surprised how close we could get. I thought the road would be closed. But we could drive close to the facility and park on the side of the road. There were lots of people taking pictures and just looking at the rockets.

We drove past SpaceX and onto Boca Chica beach. We drove south to the end of the beach and could see the mouth of the Rio Grande. There were people fishing on both sides of the river.

That was about it. On the way back we had to go through a checkpoint and confirm we are American citizens.

Yesterday we could hear the rocket launch. They were doing some work on our VRBO, so when I first heard the noise, I thought it was the workers. But it was loud and kept going. I looked outside and I saw the neighbors looking up. We went outside and just saw a dot in the distance. Then we could see something coming down. When it fell out of view, we could hear the rockets fire for the landing. We heard (we later found out) was the explosion of the crash landing. We could feel it! About 9 miles away.
